Comic-Con is over. [livejournal.com profile] acehorner is no longer within cuddle range. I shall mope about the house singing Going Through the Motions and Where Do We Go From Here until... well probably until Wincon, to be realistic.
COMIC-CON IS IN, LIKE, 10 MINUTES, AND I AM NOT READY AND I HAVE SO MUCH TO DO BEFORE THEN AND I DON’T HAVE ENOUGH MONEY AND THERE ARE LIKE 12 THINGS I WANT TO DO ON FRIDAY THAT ARE ALL HAPPENING AT 10 AM, TO SAY NOTHING OF THE 8 THINGS ALL HAPPENING AT 7ISH ON THURSDAY, AND I’VE BEEN DOING THIS FOR 11 YEARS, WHY AM I SO UNPREPARED THIS TIME AROUND?

Flist! I want your opinion! I have this idea that for one of the days of Comic-Con, I will wear a Star Trek command uniform shirt that is too big for me, no pants (by which I mean black shorts underneath or something that you can't readily see), muss up my beehive, smear my lipstick, and go as Captain Kirk's Meaningless Conquest. [livejournal.com profile] acehorner is very supportive of this idea, but methinks she's a little biased. So I'm asking you guys.

All ya'll are so jealous.
w0000t!!

And Mayor Sanders is planning on the expansions on the Convention Center finished by 2015, so maybe not leaving even then!!
WONDERFUL PHOTOGRAPHS )

ZOMG IT WAS SO AMAZING. I saw so much marvelous stuff, I saw Helen Mirren for pete's sake, but it's so overwhelming to try to post everything now. I just need to do a highlights post each day of con next year. I love Comic-COn so so so much. I think I might need to go to WonderCon too.

I have no pictures of swag yet, but there was a lot of very cool stuff this year, so those are coming! Also pics of Pride, tea, and OB to come!

Oh boy.

Apparently the Westboro Baptist Church will be protesting at Comic-Con.

Oh dear...

I just remembered that I need to buy shoes before Comic Con. Perhaps I should stop letting my wallet hemorrhage money all over the place.
Work has been completely INSANE lately, and it will only get more so as the summer arrives. I'm having a hell of a time getting anything done, and nevermind about spending any time with anyone. The only thing I've managed to do lately is find and utilize some plus-sized fashion templates to play around with ensembles for Comic Con, which I did while working the guest service desk one day. The templates are pretty cool, I'm definitely gonna use them in the future.

Here are the sketches, no color yet. )

My schedule

Apr. 6th, 2010 11:17 pm
I spent the majority of the my first day off in forever internet shopping for cage veils to wear to Comic-Con.

That is all.

I will post more details and some epic videos about this later, but right now I only have time to say that I NEED ZOE SALDANA/SIGOURNEY WEAVER FEMSLASH AND I NEED IT NOW, INTERWEBS. SOMEONE DO THIS FOR ME PLEEEEEEEASE.
I'm about to go collapse into bed so that I can get up early tomorrow to get dressed, but I'm dying to post. Alejandro and I went down to the Convention Center today to pick up our 4-Day passes to Comic-Con and go to preview night. We got off the trolley and crossed the tracks and on that first corner, there was a man dressed in a Star Trek TOS red shirt, hollering about how the space vampires had come, and handing out flyers for some fan-something. (I assume the fan-something involved space vampires, I didn't have a chance to look at the thing.) I'm being completely serious when I say I got a little choked up. I wish I had the language to describe how that guy made me feel. The internet fills most of my need for community and pack, but there's just nothing that can compare to taking four days out of real life to go somewhere where no one looks at me funny no matter how how eccentric my sense of fashion is, or how geeky I'm acting, or how socially awkward I feel.

Alejandro thinks I'm silly for being so sentimental in the first place, and for getting such an intimate sense of community at a con like Comic-Con, which is huge and international and ridiculous, but I can't help it. I feel like I'm home.
My Trekkie outfit came!! It fits like a dream, and I'm exceptionally pleased with it. No pics until ComicCon, though! It's bad luck to see the costume before the con!

Also, re: my costume - Lately I've been out-geeking my brother in the Trekkie department, and I feel very ridiculous. However, I don't have my collar pips yet and today we were discussing what rank I should be, and he was the one who whipped out the Star Trek encyclopedia and insisted on accuracy. It was comforting. He also has this totally awesome book of star charts. XD
I just realized that I only have two more paychecks between now and ComicCon. So I should probably hold off on the laptop until after, if I want to attend looking like the stone fox I am. Unfortunately this means I will probably be paying an additional $150 for it. I know you are all just enthralled by my finances.

In other news, today I caught myself considering getting an ipod touch and a Star Trek tattoo. DEAR GODS, WHAT HAVE I BECOME?!:<"@($8 *collapses*

ETA: I have no idea what Firefox just did, but livejournal claimed that I had posted this entry, and I clicked view this entry to check it and it was there, but then when I just tried to go to my blog proper, it was nowhere to be found. And then all my bookmarks disappeared and then reappeared. So I'm sorry if this shows up on anyone's flist twice.

ETA2: AND NOW FIREFOX WON'T OPEN ANY OF MY GODDAMN TABS!!
Unless someone else on my flist is coming to ComicCon? *bats lashes hopefully*

And after this, I promise to stop talking about Star Trek for a little while.

[Poll #1412250]

p.s. I voted on my brother's behalf. He says it wouldn't stand out at all. :)
So I have this icon, which you see to your left or right depending on how your flist is arranged. I was thinking of maybe putting those words on a shirt and wearing it to Comic-con. Possibly with this belt.

[Poll #1352722]
First let me say that I am very proud of myself. I got through the whole weekend and the only part of me that is sunburned is the part in my hair. :)

Also, for some reason none of my video embedding is working, for photobucket or youtube, and it's deleting the rest of the entry when I try. So I'm just gonna link to the vids.

Random pics of things not directly related to me or anything that happened to me. )
