Calodaemon

Nov. 29th, 2011 03:50 am
I forgot to post a list of what I'm thankful for this year, but here's one thing: I never know what to get my brother-in-law, Calodaemon, for Christmas. It's a source of quite a bit of frustration. I've ended up just sort of helplessly knitting him beanies the last two or three years running, BUT! The reason I don't know what to get him is because he's awesome. He treats my sister right, and he loves my niece and my two departed nephews, and he was a decent male role model for my brother when my father flunked that subject. My family is very lucky to have him in our lives. He deserves a lot more than some standard brother-in-law, I-don't-really-know-you present, like a gift card or a tool set or whatever. (Also, he takes very good care of his tools, and thus they last forever, so that'd be pointless regardless of his amount of awesome.) But yeah, in the end, I'm glad that I don't know what to get him for Christmas.

AAAAAAAH

Wincon is over, and in a minute I won't even be on the same side of the Mississippi as [livejournal.com profile] acehorner, and the people waiting for me at home are all making these rational life choices right now like they thing they're some kind of grownups or something and I feel so weirdly emotional and I caaaaaan't.
Just a few things: )
Just found out my sister hadn't filed her taxes yet, and got them all squared away for her. I love being useful. :D

All better!

Flora Pecosa's birthday party was today. (Her birthday is actually the 5th, but with the holiday we usually don't celebrate the day of.) It was awesome, Plumie doesn't get to see Abby (who is two now, in case I didn't mention) very much with her work schedule, but they got to play together all day. I brought over one of the Toy Story 3 window clings from work, and Abby loved it.

Plus I got flea stuff for the cat, and gave my mom a pedicure. So it was a productive day overall. :)

Blehg.

Oh noes! I have missed a day of twitposting. I'm such a failure.

I woke up this morning with horrific food poisoning - stuff coming out both ends. We thought it might be the flu because everything I ate yesterday I shared with my family, and I was the only one who got sick. Then I remembered I'd eaten breakfast late; an egg and toast. We checked the eggs. They expired May 23rd.
Well. Hi. I didn't mean to take a two week break there. I just... haven't been up to much. Just work. And the beach, which led to - cut for toplessness )

I started taking lessons at Culture Shock. It's not very challenging, but it's just wonderful to be in a drilling class of any kind. God, I missed it. Also in dance news, I plan to spend the next couple weeks perfecting the Bad Romance and Alejandro choreographies so that I can bust them out at Pride, if necessary. XD

I'm going to IMATS with my boss, and I fully anticipate coming back HORRIFICALLY BROKE. Any of my L.A. homies wanna come?

In an effort to avoid another unintentional hiatus, I'm going to attempt to post at least one sentence or link per day for a month. *firm decisive nod*
Flora Pecosa was pregnant. It was gonna be a boy. He died sometime between Monday and today, at 20 weeks and three days.

It's hard to know how I feel. Since Miles died, none of us have responded to pregnancy by expecting a baby, because in my family's experience that isn't a guarantee. It's not conscious or anything, but I realized when Abby was born that I hadn't been anticipating her. I hadn't been anticipating my nephew either, but... I'm still sad. It's hard to describe.

I need to learn Niño Precioso before Dia de los Muertos.
Ok, so the Costa Rica dance retreat with Her Rachelness? MY MAMA IS LOANING ME THE MONEY TO GO! OMFG I'M SO EXCITED I COULD THROW UP!

Ehmmm.

I may or may not have gotten slightly schnockered with my mom and my niece tonight. Perhaps.
First let me say that I am very proud of myself. I got through the whole weekend and the only part of me that is sunburned is the part in my hair. :)

Also, for some reason none of my video embedding is working, for photobucket or youtube, and it's deleting the rest of the entry when I try. So I'm just gonna link to the vids.

Random pics of things not directly related to me or anything that happened to me. )

Stuff wot I was actually involved in. Somewhat. )

Confusion!

Mar. 11th, 2008 08:49 pm
Omg, I feel like I have no internets focus. I want to talk about fandom, about rl, about bellydance and knitting and world peace. I have also been meaning to do a picspam and an icon post! Plus I still haven't mailed [livejournal.com profile] iamstillthemoon's hedgepig because I suck! Gah!

Wincon should have a costume ball. With prizes for things like "Most Canonical." Also, in the future, I should not know anything about or make any plans for Wincon until, like, a week beforehand. I have trouble concentrating, I'm looking forward to it so very much.

And speaking of, Abbie is clearly a Dean girl: )

I am so in love with this place. Their salads are amazing and their service is wonderful and their premade food is cheap and delicious and healthy and perfect for taking to work or school.

I'm gonna change my layout right after I post this. I think I'm going to use something from [livejournal.com profile] thefulcrum. I hardly ever just copy and paste a whole layout without tweaking it to suit me, but I really like her designs.

SO CUTE OMG!!

I have spun up the fiber I bought when I was being bad, and determined that it is too light colored for Juno Regina. So I bought some Briar Rose Angel Face in these gorgeous deep reds for it. It'll have this combination Little Red Riding Hood/majestic thing going on.

The other day MamaGoddess took Alejandro to Costco with her. He got a 4 pound bag of Jolly ranchers, which went straight up to his room when they got home. This morning he comes downstairs and goes, "Dude, my mouth has a pH of like, 2."

This wasn't the picspam I had planned, but what the hell. I've been wanting an excuse to post random bellydance pictures for a while now. I've collected these over the years off of various websites and without ever writing down any proper credit or anything like that, because I'm a lazy bum. None of them are mine, I'll just say that.
Bellydance picspam! )
(And hopefully these demonstrate that if a bellydancer were to do her thing in a strip club, s/he would probably be booed off the stage. So if I meet you and I tell you I bellydance, do not respond immediately with some comment about stripping, strip classes, or your friend/ex who is a stripper.)

Now that I've got all that out, maybe I can do something constructive for a change.
Well, I really need some Briar Rose yarn. Actually, I need lots of Briar Rose yarn. Right now.

I've started watching Torchwood. *facepalm* This is what you do to me, Spn hiatus/strike. I get so hungry for some sweet and somewhat subtle brotherlove, I gnaw my nails down and roll around on the floor, moaning and chewing on furniture, until I get so desperate that I turn to the BBC. Well, ok, I don't roll around on the floor. Torchwood: instead of being subtle and brotherly, it just has obvious rampant gayness. "Wanton" is the word I would like to use here, actually. Anyways, it's some good light entertainment.

Tonight Alejandro and Fedora went and got Guitar Hero III. *facepalm, headdesk* They've been playing it for... 5 hours and counting. I'm ready to kill Pat Benetar.

Today, [livejournal.com profile] mere_buff_4 told me she was feeling awesome. It made me all warm and fuzzy inside. S'been too long since she felt good, sez aye. Clearly, this catapulted me into the happy place of talking like a pirate.

And now for some cooey, gooey, baaaaaaaby Abigail time!

It's long, yes. Movie Maker wouldn't let me clip it, and I'm too lazy to look for other software. Anyway, her eyes are so gorgeous. I can't get over them. That's MamaGoddess narrating, and Plumie holding her, btw.

Some news!

Jan. 14th, 2008 12:08 am
Well, I gave in to the allure of Lupercalia, like I do every year. When the chips are down, I'm just a big sappy idiot at heart. It was Love's Philosophy that did me in. It sort of vaguely resembles Monsterbait: Underpants if you squint. Regardless, I would like to blame [livejournal.com profile] xtinethepirate for this. She will know why soon. Also I got a six pack of imps, cuz ya know, might as well. While I'm ordering.

Abbie has been to the doctor and she now weighs 7 lbs, 3 oz, huzzah! Also, Oro and Fedora (other niece and big sister, if you recall) just got in today to meet her! (I was going to post the video, but the computer is not cooperating.) We saved all their Christmas presents and a few of ours and kept the tree up and had a second little Christmas tonight with them. It was fun. Plus, I got this necklace. V. appropriate for a Spn fangirl, oui?

[livejournal.com profile] mere_buff_4 has a blog here now! She's an amazing girl. *snuggles her*

I've been awful about commenting lately. Imma try to be better about that.

We had another poster dump at work. When I have the money to send them places, I'll post a list of what I grabbed and see if anyone here wants one. :)

MamaGoddess bought me these shoes because... I don't know why. She's awesome, perhaps?

I'm all registered for Comicon!

Tomorrow I shall bake a pie.

Right now I shall go to bed.
Omg, it feels like I haven't posted in forever. *clings to flist*

I think my little absence is best explained with pictures. )

Abigail!!

Dec. 20th, 2007 02:02 am
6 lbs, 6 oz! )
Dude. Abigail, my soon-to-be niece is breach. We've known that for a while, and they've been doing that thing where they try to get her to turn by poking at my sister's middle, but it hasn't worked, she's apparently nice and comfortable in her current position. So they went ahead and tested the viability of her lungs and then scheduled a c-section. FOR THIS WEDNESDAY. DAY AFTER TOMORROW. HOLY CRAP. I DON'T EVEN HAVE ANYTHING KNIT FOR HER YET. *falls over*

December

Dec. 16th, 2007 06:22 pm
O HAI.

I've been absent the last few days. I opened, closed, and opened again at work. I stayed awake for 33 hours. Then we had Alejandro's birthday party, and then I slept for 15 hours.

Today is Miles' birthday. He would have been two. Last year it was kind of hard to believe that his birthday had already arrived, this feels more properly paced. I can wrap my head around him being two. His sister, Abigail, is due in a couple weeks. It's funny how Miles changed how we all thought about pregnancy. It didn't even occur to me until very recently that there was going to be a baby in the family. None of us have really let ourselves anticipate that. This is gonna sound weird, but this day always makes me really appreciate the internet. My sister probably wouldn't have made it through this if she didn't have her stillbirth forum and all the friends she's made there. (She uses internet language in normal conversation sometimes, it's really cute.) Anyways, happy birthday Miles! I love you!
Plumie totaled her car on her way home from work. Nobody's hurt, she crashed into a rock while she was changing the radio station.

New part of Break Loose Ranch is up, which is very LKASNDFOAWEIURNA33NJIYEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSS!!! But Alejandro keeps getting bored and wandering in to talk to me right in the middle of the sex scenes.
