algie anyways*
I lost my favorite scarf last night on the way to work. All the cool atheist kids are gonna laugh at me, but I think this happened for a reason. It was a handknit scarf made from handspun and handpainted (by an SCAdian gypsy friend of mine) merino wool, so no 5 cents to a 7 year old in China. I got off the bus with the scarf around my neck, and went straight up the stairs and onto the trolley. As soon as the trolley took off, I realized I didn't have my scarf. I got off on the next stop and came back. This took me all of 8 minutes, but the scarf was nowhere to be found. Here's the big meaningful thing: It's just starting to get cold here. (Yes, I know everyone laughs at California cold, but every year some homeless people die of exposure, and it's obviously not as bad as it is in Minnesota or whatnot, but still, the threat is there.) Merino wool is very warm, but light and not scratchy. In addition, I'm sure I would have felt the scarf fall off had I not been in a bit of hurry to get to the trolley, despite being more than 2 hours early for work. See, I wanted plenty of time to scour the Barnes&Noble next door to the theater in order to find a specific knitting book and copy a bit of a pattern that I need for the stuffed mama and baby kangaroos I'm knitting for Miles' birthday (which I did find and successfully copy once I got there). Understand?

Date: 2006-10-10 12:52 am (UTC)Lol, but you know what? I will make a note of Merino wool, and see if I can find a gypsy at the next SCA event I attend (in december) who spins and paints the scarves herself. *nod nod* Because everyone needs a comfy scarf of love.
And ALG has pwnd me. I am so torn between being mad at Tove for killing Brandon (gah) or loving him for the GUNH hhhhotness of when he turned Jude. This is most conflicting.
