Same here. And I find myself disappointed by female characters who weren't even supposed to be heroes too, for the sheer amount of helplessness they display.
Case in point: The Princess Bride. There's a sword lying within arm's reach, you are in no way incapacitated or even out of breath, your boyfriend's arm is being chewed off by a Rodent of Unusual Size, and you do... nothing.
You don't reach for the sword, you don't look for a big stick or rock, you don't run away to at least save yourself. Not even yelling "Let him go, you mean Rodent of Unusual Size!"
See, I always interpreted that scene as being somewhat satirical. Because she doesn't even like, have an alarmed expression or anything. She just stands there. But I guess I could be just attempting to justify my love of that movie. XD
But yes, damn you, Zoe Washburne for raising our expectations!
